Privacy policy

Harvestly is a marketplace and farm-advice tool for growers. This page says what we keep about you, who is allowed to see it, and how to change or remove it. No tracking adverts, no selling of your details.

What we store

  • Account: your email address or phone number and a password. Sign-in details are checked by our backend and are never shown inside the app.
  • Profile: your name, farm name, phone and WhatsApp number, location (country, province or state, district or area, and an optional map pin), a short bio and a profile photo.
  • Listings: what you are selling, price, unit, quantity, category, description and up to five photos. Photos are compressed on your phone before uploading.
  • Verification proof: an ID or farm photo, only if you ask to be a Verified Farmer. It is used to check your claim and is not shown to other users.
  • AgroAI: your messages and the advice you receive, so the conversation continues when you come back. Audio recordings are converted to text and checked by you before sending — the raw recording is not kept. Crop assessment photos are sent to the AI service for analysis but are not saved by Harvestly; the assessment context, calculation inputs and advice are saved in your conversation.
  • Usage counts: how many photo scans you have used, so the free limit can be applied.

What other people can see

Listings and seller profiles are public so buyers can find you. That means your farm name, location, photo and the phone or WhatsApp number you choose to enter are visible to anyone browsing the marketplace, next to the goods you are selling. Only you can change or take down your own listings and profile.

Location

The Regional Tool can use your device’s location when you press Use my location. Your coordinates are used at that moment to look up nearby rainfall, soil and cropping guidance, and are not saved to your account. You can type any place name instead, anywhere in the world.

Payments

Harvestly Pro is currently in clearly marked test mode, so no real card or mobile-money details are collected or stored. When real payment is switched on, this page will name the payment provider that handles those details.

How your data is protected

Every table has access rules so you can read and edit only your own rows, while the public can read listings and profiles. Photos live in private storage and are shown through short-lived links. Model and service keys stay on the server and are never sent to your phone.

Your choices

You can correct or delete anything you posted from My account: edit your profile, mark a listing sold or expired, or remove it. To have your whole account and its listings deleted, ask the Harvestly team and it will be done.

Advice is guidance, not a guarantee

AgroAI answers and regional estimates support your judgement — they are not a substitute for an extension officer, vet or laboratory test. Prices shown come from listed sources with an “updated” date, and are never presented as live when they are not.

Frequently asked questions

Is Harvestly free to use?
Yes. Browsing the marketplace, the Regional Tool, and AgroAI text chat are free and unlimited. Photo diagnostics are free for your first 5 scans; Harvestly Pro unlocks unlimited scans and featured listings.
Can buyers reach me without sharing my number in the open?
Your phone and WhatsApp number appear on your listings so buyers can contact you. If you prefer not to show a number, leave it off your profile and agree on contact through WhatsApp only where you choose.
How do I become a Verified Farmer?
Send a verification request with a photo of your ID or proof of your farm. The Harvestly team checks it and adds the Verified Farmer badge to your profile — nobody can self-verify.
Which languages does AgroAI understand?
English, Shona and Ndebele, in typing or voice notes. It replies in the same language you used.
Are the market prices live?
No price is shown as live unless its source has confirmed it. Every price carries its source and an “updated” date, so you always know how fresh it is.
Does Harvestly work on a slow phone?
Yes. It is built for low-end Android phones on 2G or 3G, with compressed photos, small page sizes and a lightweight mode you can switch on in the marketplace.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. Ask the Harvestly team and your account, listings and messages will be removed.

Terms and conditions

  1. Using Harvestly. You agree to use the app lawfully and honestly: list only goods you have the right to sell, describe them truthfully, and treat other members with respect. One person, one account.
  2. Your listings. You remain responsible for what you sell, its condition, and delivery arrangements with buyers. Harvestly hosts the marketplace and provides contact tools, but does not buy, hold, inspect or deliver the goods, and is not a party to the sale.
  3. Payments between members. Any payment for goods happens directly between buyer and seller. Harvestly Pro subscriptions are in clearly marked test mode until a payment provider is connected, so no real money is collected for Pro yet.
  4. Advice and estimates. AgroAI answers, regional soil, rainfall and crop guidance, and market prices are provided to support your decisions, not to replace an extension officer, vet, agronomist or laboratory. Harvestly is not liable for losses from acting on them.
  5. Your content. You keep the rights to what you post and grant Harvestly permission to display it in the app. Do not post anything illegal, copied without permission, or another person’s details.
  6. Accounts and suspension. Accounts may be suspended or removed for fraud, false verification claims, fake listings or abuse of other members.
  7. Availability. Harvestly works to keep the app running, but parts of it rely on outside services (maps, weather, AI and payment providers) and can be interrupted.
  8. Changes to these terms. These terms update together with the policy above; continuing to use Harvestly means you accept the current version.
